Review A ROOM

COVER PAGE OF NOVEL PAPERBACK

Hi friends here again with a new review of new novel of EMMA DONOGHUE named as A ROOM. It’s a novel which when you see ,you will just feel what an author write n 100 or 150 pages but this novel is the he one which makes the saying true that whether you play a small duration role in a play or you play a full length character in play an artist’s main focus is to leave an impact on the audience. And EMMA has done justice to her readers.
Briefly telling you about the novel it is a story is narrated from the point of view of a five year old child who has gone through the miserable conditions but what makes the things worse is the room?
A room is a novel which takes you along with it and you sink and sail with it. You move with the little JACK and see sometimes see JACK from his MA’S eyes. You will imagine the room and how are the walls of the room, how the digital lock guards the door from his inhabitants and seals them inside the room. It’s story is based on the forced confinement and exploitation by the opposite sex.the story become more gruesome and pathetic when in the initial plot a five year old child named JACK comes into the picture and he starts with the line that “Today I'm five. I was four last night going to sleep in Wardrobe, but when I wake up in Bed in the dark I'm changed to five, abracadabra. Before that I was three, then two, then one, then zero. "Was I minus numbers?"a child sleeps in the wardrobe and tells his tale of living in A ROOM happily.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT IN THIS NOVEL?
 ROOM GRAPHICS
Room is the world for the five year old boy JACK. His rugs, the walls of the room, his ma, his television, the sunlight coming through the slit f the window are the things with which he was well versed with according to him that was the world and he was happy with the world in which he lives in and plays in.......THE CHARACTER OF JACK IS an innocent character who struggles to adjust in the new world in which he and his ma comes to live in again it becomes a big challenge for our little guy JACK to adjust in . His knowledge of the outside world comes to him from a sole source i.e. the television which was given to them by their captivator OLD NICK. The wait off the characters for the Sunday treat and the wait for the groceries at the end of the day, wait for the common necessities makes them a demand driven beings and gives a shape to the story. Our jack loves the character name DORA the explorer who gives jack a flight of fantasy, but his ma limits his television habits by saying that his mind will decay like OLD NICK if watches television. They do "phys ed" every morning, keep to strict mealtimes, make up poems, sing Lady Gaga and Kylie, and most importantly, Ma has a seemingly endless supply of stories – from the Berlin Wall and Princess Di ("Should have worn her seat belt," says Jack) to fairytales like Hansel and Gretel to hybrids in which Jack becomes Prince Jackerjack, Gullijack in Lilliput: his mother's own fairytale hero. And really, what is a story of a kidnapped girl locked in a shed with her long-haired innocently precocious boy if not the realization of the most macabre fairy tale?
a room has some of the structural qualities it was made of five layers of materials to restrict the sound from going outside.once ma tried to escape from A ROOM (jack's birth) but was unsuccessful and as a result her living condition worsens and soon is burdened by an illicit child from her abductor .soon her boredom vanishes in the care of the child but no sooner the thoughts of he big escape ame into the day of light when JACK turns five and then the breakthrough and they have a escape from a room and there life never remains same after that ......................

CHARACTERS REVIEW:

THE character are very nicely fabricated but i was not very pleased by the character of the old nick much emphasis could have been made on that particular character, but the detailing of that particular character could have been a little tricky because of the fact that , it would have shifted the focus of the novel from a child to old nick. So by it was a safe bet for the author too.

otherwise all in all it was novel which came up with a fresh concept and touched the sensitive issue of "human captivity and exploitation",

RATING ON THE SCALE OF 1 TO 10?

I WOULD LIKE TO RATE IT AT 8.5 AS IT HAS PRESENTED THE EMOTIONS OF A CHILD VERY EXCELLENTLY . WHOLE OF THE WRITING IS SUCCESSFUL IN LEAVING AN IMPACT ON THE READER . AS I SAID IN MY EARLIER BLOGS THAT A SUCCESSFUL NOVEL IS THAT WHICH MAKES THE READER SINK AND SAIL WITH THE FLOW OF IT . AND INDEED IT WAS ONE OF THE SUCCESSFUL NOVELS.

ADIOS GUYS WILL BE COMING BACK SOON WITH A NEW BLOG.
